On Saturday 24 October, the Honorable, Dr. Ray Bassett. Irish Ambassador to Canada opened the new office of the St. Patrick’s Parade Society Toronto.
A generous parade sponsor made an offer the society could not refuse. Now at 65 Queen street West.
When cutting the ribbon to the new office The Irish Ambassador commented that this was a proud day for the Irish in Toronto and a positive step forward.
At the opening was the Parade Chair Mr. Alan Louthe who said we are gearing up to the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising celebrating heritage and culture, the Irish have a sad history but we are stronger for it and we thank Canada for allowing us to make Toronto our home while adding to this great multicultural society.
The executive have a vision for the parade and have increased the parade attendance in recent years and we complement all those who have gone before us.
Each year its gets bigger and in 2016 we are hoping to have 1 million on the parade route, weather permitting it will happen.
